Government Remains Committed to Ensuring the timely Establishment of the National Unemployment Insurance Scheme

Since its announcement in the 2020 Mid-Year Budget Review, Government has held a series of engagements with key stakeholders on the design and execution of a National Unemployment Insurance Scheme (NUIS).

The Technical Committee constituted to oversee the establishment of the NUIS has started engaging relevant stakeholders and technical experts including development partners to obtain technical inputs to finalise the concept for the NUIS.

The Technical Committee is also working to put together NUIS Bill for consideration of Parliament and passage into an Act. The passage of the NUIS Bill will lay the framework and foundation for the operationalisation of the scheme which will be a major income protection and skills enhancement programme for Ghanaian workers.
